About LISA HÖLZL

Lisa Hölzl is a Sydney-based artist working from a studio in an old Marrickville Bakery. Her sculptural ceramic projects are body and botanically inspired, drawing on her deep, lifelong passion for painting.

In her work, installations of ceramic totems often form small microcosms or islands exploring particular geographical sites or art historical stories. Individual works combine ambiguous similarities between human and botanical forms while also paying homage to Lisa’s personal art muses and sometimes just the sublime beauty of nature itself. New communities of bodies, birds, bees and plants come together in ever new compositions and groups or as stand-alone works of art for either home or garden.

Lisa’s work has recently been shown at Artisans in the Gardens, Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney, Australian Museum, Sydney, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Gymea, Kerrie Lowe Gallery, Newtown, Purple Noon Gallery, Richmond, Gang Gang Gallery Lithgow and Crackpot Gallery, Freshwater.
