Sculptural Seed Pod Workshop – Black Midfire Clay
Date: Sunday 28th of June 2026
Time: 9.30am – 2.30pm
Venue: S.Mountain Ceramics Studio, Faulconbridge (Blue Mountains NSW)
Join ceramic artist Sharron Mountain for a deeply creative, hands-on workshop exploring sculptural form using the beautiful and daring Black Midfire clay. Inspired by the organic shapes of native seed pods, you’ll design and hand-build your own small sculptural piece, guided step-by-step through form, structure and surface.
This relaxed, supportive workshop is suitable for all levels of experience and takes place in Sharron’s light-filled, meditative Blue Mountains studio. Come ready to slow down, experiment, and connect with clay in a meaningful way. You’re encouraged to bring seed pods or images (Pinterest boards welcome) as inspiration.
What’s included:
- All clay, materials and tools
- Firing of your finished work (ready in approx. 3–4 weeks)
- Morning tea, hot drinks & good coffee
- BYO lunch, nibbles & drinks
Important details
- Cost includes all materials and firing
- Minimum age: 10+ years (children must be accompanied by an adult)
- Minimum numbers: 6 participants to run the workshop
- Bookings are secured by payment (deposit or full amount online)
- Places are limited – early booking recommended.
About the artist
Sharron Mountain is a ceramic artist and educator with over 30 years’ experience. Her work is inspired by markings and observations in the natural landscape and is held in collections including the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Everglades House & Gardens, the Japanese Embassy, and private collections across Australia.
