Explore the whimsical world of ceramic Totems with Lisa

Hölzl, artist in residence at S.Mountain Ceramics Studio in the heart of the  Blue Mountains.

This is a special series of two-day-long workshops.

I have invited Lisa to be a guest artist at my Blue Mountains studio at Faulcon

bridge. Lisa will guide you through the process of developing a 60cm Totem that is bound in a colourful ceramic story for your house or garden.

The workshops will focus on:

• Developing design and composition elements 
• Hand-building individual components of a Totem in a scale with the form
• Constructing a Totem ‘Hero’ on the 60cm stand and
• Lisa will share her knowledge of colour and guide you through the application of the glaze surface to unite the sculptural form.

Day 1 - Design, composition and hand-building the Totem

Day 2 - Colour to unite the form - Glazing the Totem

Workshop 3 - 2-hour construction of Totem. The date will be arranged with the class

What is included:

• 2 1/2-day workshop series tutoring with the guest artist. The 3rd day is a construction workshop with Sharron to bring your Totem together.
• All materials, tools, clay, glaze, timber and steel stand are included in the cost of the course.
• All experience levels welcome.
• Coffee, Wine and Cheese light lunch provided. Or BYO your lunch.
• Work can be collected from  S.Mountain Ceramics studio in Faulconbridge or posted to you for a small additional fee.

Come join us at Sharron's ceramic studio in the mid-Blue Mountains NSW for a hands-on DIY ceramic workshop! Round up your friends, family, significant others, or coworkers for a 2 or 3-hour session where we provide the space and guidance for a unique and fun creative experience in the Beautiful Blue Mountains Bushland.

We offer individual, pairs, or group sessions for up to 12 people, all customised to fit your creative objectives. Our two-hour workshops are perfect for socialising and getting your hands dirty, while our three-hour technical sessions allow for deeper exploration and experimentation. And for even more fun, you can extend your 2-hour special event to 3 hours for cake-cutting, speeches, and more!

FAQs:

How do I make payment?

• Online, or contact us for a payment plan - a single ticket deposit is required to secure your workshop date, if you cancel within 72 hours this is non-refundable but always transferable to another date if available.
• The cost per person may vary depending on the size of the group. Some items may not include a glazing service, which is optional and can be chosen on the day of the workshop.
• Refunds are also available if NSW Health restrictions change 72 hours prior to the event.

Are there any minimum age requirements to enter the event?

• Minimum age 10 + years or have a chat with Sharron.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

• Parking in the driveway and off Chapman Parade on the verge.

Can I pay by EFT or other methods of payment?

• Contact Sharron directly via DM or email to make other arrangements.

What can I bring to the event?

• Cost includes all necessary materials and equipment, as well as the use of a kiln for firing. Food and drinks are allowed to be brought, but tea and coffee will be provided. Group bookings may bring their own food and alcohol, with the option to have a grazing platter on a dedicated table if desired.

What do I need to bring?

Wear old clothes, an apron, and closed-toe shoes. Trim fingernails. 

What is the refund policy?

Customers must provide 14-days notice for cancellations. If notice is given less than 72 hours in advance, the deposit will be forfeited but can be transferred to another workshop date. Same-day tickets are non-refundable; customers are encouraged to find a substitute or purchase a clay kit instead.

When will I get my Ceramic pieces?

Those attending the workshop can expect to receive their ceramic pieces in between 2-4 weeks, depending on weather conditions. Firing and glazing, if applicable, can take up to 4 weeks due to humidity level and workload. 

I'm travelling through the Blue Mountains, how can I receive my creations?

We offer the option for postal delivery and postage costs will be communicated to you. Customers located locally can pick up their ceramic wares from the designated locker/studio once notified.

What is your COVID-19 Policy?

• S.Mountain Ceramics has a COVID-19 safe policy in place. Please do not attend If you have any Cold/flu-like symptoms.
• All necessary social distancing measures, registrations and sanitising stations are available upon check-in for your convenience.

Looking for a fun, intimate night for two? Look no further! Explore your creative sides and get a little messy with clay in our private ceramic studio. Our workshops are customized to your preferences and hosted by the quirky and fabulous Sharron. Whether it's a date with your significant other or quality time with a family member, we can accommodate your unique adventures. Simply send an enquiry and we'll set up a date that works for you. During the workshop, you'll have the studio to yourselves and Sharron will guide you through hand-building or using the pottery wheel. Don't worry about materials - we'll provide everything you need, including a wide selection of glazes to choose from. Plus, you'll enjoy complimentary bubbles or wine, treats, and a funky playlist to keep the fun vibes going. By the end of the 2-hour session, you'll have created 2 to 4 pieces that will be fired twice for a stunning finish. And for a truly memorable night

• Depends on the workshop. All workshops are catered to your age group.

Parking

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

• Parking on the verge outside the studio property at 186 Chapman Parade, Faulconbridge. The park spaces are available inside the property.

• The studio is located at the back of the property, head through the side gate and you can't miss the studio, it's big.
• If you need closer access, Sharron can arrange for you to drop and drive close to the door. The property is flat and an easy walk

Refunds

• No refunds will be offered. I would encourage you to swap your ticket if you cannot make the event. A clay kit can be provided if you cannot make the event.

Snacks, Drinks and Nibbles

• Bring your own bubbles, beers and wines, snacks, graze board

• We do offer Graze boxes for individuals and groups are available upon enquiry forms a local Blue Mountains caterer.
