Time: Friday evening 6pm-8.30pm 

Ceramic Foundation HAND and WHEEL course is designed to provide an introduction to hand-building ceramic tableware pieces and the option of a pottery wheel intro throughout 3 lessons.

> What will I learn

You will be working with foundational ceramic hand-building techniques where you will make your a range of tableware pieces such as Mugs and utensils. These will be finished at the end of lesson 3 and dried and fired in the kiln. If you would like to glaze (colour your pieces) an optional 4th lesson has now been added where you will be guided through the basics glazing and colouring your forms.

> Lesson length

Each lesson is 2.5 hours.

Lessons begin at 6.00pm and finish at 8.30pm. Please arrive from 5.55pm to ensure we get the most out of the session. Be guided by me, I will hold your hand every step of the way (Covid safe practices of course) - literally if needed. You can purchase your own bag of beautiful, tactile midfire clay for the course and all of your firing and glazing are included in the cost.

$280

 - Full payment or a deposit can be placed to secure your place in the class. If paying by deposit, the final amount must be paid via EFT or cash.

 - Cash or EFT only accepted when purchased at the beginning of the first lesson. You will have leftover clay for more making at home or for the next course. Kiln hire is available at any time. 

Minimum numbers are required to run this course (4 participants)

 

>  No experience required

This class is ideal for folks with zero experience, though to those who've had a few lessons, but need a refresher to improve their technique or if you need creative time and a space to work and be social, then this is for you.

 

>  Can I reschedule 

Class sessions run for 3 weeks, with an optional 4th lesson on glazing. Same day, same time. Sorry, if you can’t make it to a session, if you have Covid symptoms, adhere to current health advice. Look out for a time when a workshop is on so you can sit in and complete your work and get your studio time in if space is available. Makeup lessons can be made by arrangement.

 

>  How do I book

You only need to book once and you will be automatically signed up for all of the 3 lessons.

  • Please do not come along if you have any symptoms. You may book in for a make up lesson if unwell.

> About me:

I am a ceramic artist and educator of over 28 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) and Diploma of Education. My Ceramics studio is at Faulconbridge in the Blue Mountains NSW. I find my inspirations come from the markings and observations in the natural landscape.

I’m blessed to have my work is featured in a range of retail outlets including the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Blackheath Creative, Bespoke and Co. Bathurst, Studio on Anson Orange and the Hawkesbury Remakery who support artists and artisans across Australia.

How do I make payment?

  • Online, EFT or in Cash. Payments can be made as a deposit or the full cost. Options include adding your bag of clay at the time of booking or you can purchase your clay in the first session.

 Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the course?

  • Minimum age 10 + years. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

  • Parking on Chapman Parade on the VERGE of the property, Faulconbridge. 

What can I bring into the event?

  • Safe studio shoes, water bottle, aprons are optional. 
  • All equipment, firing of your ceramic pieces, tea & coffee are included in the course cost. BYO other drinks welcome on a Friday night.
